Spicy Irish Christmas DrinkWhat do you drink during an Irish Christmas? If you’re anything like me, you might opt for the Spicy Irish, an Irish whiskey drink tempered with ginger ale and gingerbread liqueur. The result is a drink with equal parts spice and kick; in fact this was one of our early favorites when we started the website.

Spicy Irish Drink RecipeThe Spicy Irish is the perfect Irish Christmas drink. The bite of Jameson Irish whiskey and a double dose of ginger makes the Spicy Irish a robust drink that fits the Christmas theme. The best part of the Spicy Irish is that it not only works great for Christmas, due to the gingerbread, but it also works great during St. Patrick’s Day. This drink is really not that far off from a Big Ginger; the only difference is the garnish and the gingerbread liqueur.

What I like about this cocktail is its simplicity to make, and the complexity of the taste. Jameson and ginger ale is already a pretty common combination, but adding the gingerbread adds a bite that you just don’t find in the typical whiskey drink. One could argue that you can’t have a successful Irish Christmas drink without a huge dose of Jameson. The citrus garnishes can embellish the taste spectrum further, specifically the orange, which is normally absent in a Jameson and ginger ale cocktail.
