The 1984 film Ghostbusters is still one of the top grossing movies ever made. Think paranormal researchers turned ghost exterminators in New York City and you’ve got the idea. The movie inspired a few different cocktails called a Ghostbuster. This one seems to be the most definitive recipe. This version of the Ghostbuster because of its green color, and Irish cream reminds me of an ectoplasmic trail.
Ghostbuster
- 1 oz peach schnapps
- 1 oz Midori
- Splash Baileys Irish cream
Prep Time:
Total Time:
In a shot glass or small glass, mix one part each of peach schnapps and Midori. On top, float a small amount of Irish cream. Serve and enjoy.
The Ghostbuster drink is a fruity green drink with a dollop of Irish cream atop. I can only imagine this drink was named for the ghost later known as Slimer, who covers Bill Murray’s character in ectoplasm in the New York Library.
More Ghostbuster Facts
According to Box Office Mojo, Ghostbusters is the 33rd largest grossing movie of all time, if adjusted for inflation.
The character Slimer was known on the movie set as Onion Head, due to his foul stench. The Slimer moniker was attached to the character by audiences, and later in the The Real Ghostbusters cartoon, where he was a bit of a mascot. According the handbook that comes with the Ghostbusters DVD, Slimer is the ghost of one of the original European settlers of New York City.
The original version of the screenplay was set in the future, where ghostbusters were similar to firefighters. The version of the movie that was actually made was a better idea.
The 1986 cartoon series based on the movie had to be called The Real Ghostbusters because there was a short-lived 1975 live action show called The Ghost Busters. Filmation had bought the right to the live action show, and made a parallel cartoon series to capitalize on the movie’s success.
