Halloween is one of the biggest drinking holidays, trailing only behind St. Patrick’s Day and Christmas as major excuses to party. One of the coolest Halloween drinks that I’ve found is the Spider’s Kiss. For starters, there is a spiderweb made of chocolate at the bottom. Inside of the glass, there is a reddish-orange libation, with some fruity flavors and rum to spice things up. It’s garnished with a chocolate dipped orange, how cool is that?
Spiders Kiss
- 2 oz gold rum
- 1 ½ oz pomegranate schnapps or pomegranate liqueur
- ½ oz Cointreau
- 2 oz orange juice
- Orange wedge
- Dolci Frutta dipping chocolate

Total Time:
Ahead of time, chill a martini glass in the freezer or refrigerator. Heat up your dipping chocolate until liquified and ready for use. Using a pastry bag, or utensil, drizzle chocolate into a chilled martini glass in the pattern of a web. Put the glass back into the refrigerator. Dip both ends of an orange wedge into the chocolate and chill on a plate in the refrigerator. In a cocktail shaker with ice, combine the gold rum, pomegranate schnapps, Cointreau, and orange juice. Shake and strain into the martini glass. cut a perpendicular groove into the orange wedge, and place it on the rim of the glass. Serve and enjoy.
The Spider’s Kiss is one of my favorite Halloween drinks, and if you don’t like the red version, you can make a green version as well. To make the green version, substitute Midori for rum, lemon juice for Cointreau, and vodka for pomegranate liqueur, and leave out the orange juice altogether. Slowly add a half ounce of grenadine at the end, and now you have the Midori Spider’s Kiss.
